Line of Service Internal Firm Services Industry/Sector Not Applicable Specialism IFS - Operations Management Level Director Job Description & Summary The Anti Money Laundering (AML)/Counter Terrorism Financing (CTF) Compliance Officer (AMLCO) is responsible for overseeing PwC’s compliance with the AML/CTF Act 2006 and associated Rules and Guidance issued by AUSTRAC. As the AMLCO, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring that PwC’s designated services, systems and processes adhere to regulatory obligations while maintaining the integrity and reputation of the firm and its clients, working with clients across the firm. What you’ll do: Set the strategic direction by defining key governance priorities and deliverables to meet regulatory AML/CTF requirements. Lead the implementation and maintenance of the firm’s risk-based AML/CTF Program in line with updated legislative and AUSTRAC requirements, including money laundering, terrorism financing and proliferation financing risks. Define and maintain the taxonomy of financial crime risks that the firm is exposed to. Ensure that governance, oversight and reporting to senior management reflects new regulatory expectations for outcome-focused compliance. Support PwC management in establishing an appropriate financial crime culture and risk appetite, including distribution of internal communications to promote awareness of financial crime risks and highlight recent industry/regulatory developments. Act as the primary point of contact with respect to PwC’s dealings with AUSTRAC, including: Fostering positive regulatory relationship with AUSTRAC. Ensuring PwC’s compliance with AUSTRAC’s reporting and other AML/CTF obligations. Ensuring any AUSTRAC feedback relating to PwC’s AML/CTF Program and financial crime risk management are addressed appropriately. Where required, chair, participate in or contribute to Board and management committees and governance forums on financial crime-related matters. Monitor PwC’s financial crime reporting to ensure adherence to established risk appetite, frameworks, policies and procedures, and ensure appropriate remediation actions are taken where required. Manage oversight of third-party and outsourcing arrangements to ensure compliance accountability remains with the firm. Ensure PwC has adequate capability and capacity with respect to PwC’s 3 Lines of Accountability against financial crime. Provide leadership to the team and perform budgetary planning and management. What we’re looking for: Qualifications and Certifications: Possess or is pursuing a degree in relevant disciplines (e.g., Business Management, Law, MBA). Professional certifications such as ACAMS, Diploma in Financial Crime, or FINSIA are highly desirable. Experience and Regulatory Knowledge: Over 5 years of experience in AML/CTF compliance, financial crime, or regulatory risk, with in-depth understanding of the AML/CTF Act 2006, AML/CTF Rules, AUSTRAC guidance, and a strong track record of effective communication and relationship building with regulators. Technical Expertise and Program Management: Proven experience in developing, implementing, and managing AML/CTF programs. Familiarity with digital identity verification, regtech tools, and data analytics for AML/CTF monitoring. Experienced in supporting AML/CTF audits, regulator interactions, and independent reviews. Leadership and Organisational Alignment: Demonstrates advanced strategic thinking, leadership, and the ability to attract, retain, and develop talent. Extensive knowledge of financial crime regulatory environment and alignment with PwC’s operational policies and business strategy, ensuring seamless integration of regulatory priorities in accordance with commercial objectives.
